It’s finally that time of year to think about sprucing up your yard, and if you are looking for a weeding company, hardscape contractor or lawn treatment near you, look no further than Eagleson Landscape Company.
Out of all the landscape companies in Indianapolis and the greater metro area, Eagleson Landscape Co. – a family-owned and operated business – has been a proven and trusted name in the industry and throughout the communities it serves.
The folks at Eagleson Landscape Co. offer an expansive lawn care services list as well as personalized consultations, exceptional design work, installation and maintenance services for its clients.
More than a patio builder and salesperson, Bill Eagleson, owner and founder, has over 40 years of experience in the industry. He started Eagleson Landscape Co. in the fall of 2004. Eagleson is a Purdue University graduate with a degree in landscape management. His name may be familiar as he started his landscaping career as a groundskeeper for a home on Meridian Street and was a design and installation manager at Allisonville Nursery for several years.
“I’m homegrown and went to North Central, so I hope nobody holds that against me in the Carmel area,” Eagleson jested. “I come by gardening naturally as my grandparents and mom were avid gardeners and do-it-yourselfers. I’ve been building things since I could hold a hammer.”
Eagleson feels blessed that his large client base has followed him over his career and was supportive of his dream of starting his own company in 2004. Eagleson’s son, Sam, is the second generation of Eaglesons to pursue their passion for plants. He graduated from Purdue University in 2013 with a landscape management degree and is currently apprenticing at Eagleson Landscape Company.
“We’ve been so blessed to be successful, and now we are looking at going forward and continuing to grow,” he said. “Our son, Sam, joined the business full-time three years ago. He’s always been a part of the company in one form or another since he was old enough to be dragged out to come help. He went to Purdue [University] to study one major and ended up changing to the same major I had when I was there.”

Eagleson enjoys having his son as part of the company. He credits Sam’s talent to take care of the technical side of the business, working with Jennifer Riley Simone, owner of Fresh Fig Marketing firm in Carmel, who handles their marketing and maintaining the website and social media
When asked what sets them apart from their competitors, Eagleson answered with a humble and honest approach to the question.
“That being said, we bring a personalized attitude to the design process for our prospective clients. I appreciate the confidence that my clients have put into me as many will say, ‘Whatever you think,’ which are the most dangerous words in the English language, but by the same token, it’s not my yard. I like talking with new clients in particular and finding out what they want from their front yard and backyard living space. I ask them, ‘What do you want out of this space?’ I’m not the one that’s going to be living here, let alone the one who’s going to be paying for it. I really want to find out from them how they want to use their space.”
Eagleson’s consulting process includes a realistic conversation about what the client wants and what they are really going to use. He will install whatever they request, but in the course of the questions, he finds out if it’s something they will really use and not suffer buyer’s remorse from six months later.
“We’re creative, but we are creative within their budget and work with our clients to create a realistic budget,” Eagleson emphasized. “I’ll ask them if they’re interested in such and such, but my goal is that we gain a lifelong client after the first project. A lot of my maintenance clients – we do a lot of maintenance – are mostly folks we initially did design work for. They made the investment and want to keep the the results looking great . If they have plants that they want to keep trimmed and keep the beds they want to keep nice, we can take care of their investment.”
Eagleson admitted that he sees a lot of “keeping up with the Joneses” and doesn’t ever want his clients to be unhappy after the project is finished or later down the road.
“I don’t want them asking why they put a $5,000 built-in grill when they were perfectly happy with their little Weber charcoal grill,” Eagleson said. “If they do have us put a built-in grill in, I want to know that they think it’s the greatest thing, and they love entertaining with it.”
No project is too small or too big a challenge for Eagleson and his team.
“I have a project out in the Geist area, and they have extended family, and their home is where the family comes to visit,” Eagleson shared. “They had a hillside that was dangerous to get from the back door down to the dock. We created a space now with different levels and a place for the people waiting for their turn on the boat to jet ski or whatever, and people up above can safely enjoy conversation, burgers and brats. We turned a situation that was worthless land to something that they use all the time. They couldn’t be happier because we talked about what they wanted out of the space, and they are perfectly happy because we went through our process. This conversation process where we discuss what they are going to do with the space is our process whether we’re talking about a simplistic starter home or talking about a home where the client is going out feet first and want to do it big. The questions are the same regardless because we want to make sure that our clients are getting the best value for their investment.”
Eagleson’s goal is to make sure no client has any regrets, and when their guest come to their home, they are impressed at how beautiful and relaxing the space is.
As people look at their homes and outdoor living space as a place of respite as well as a place to entertain family and friends, there are trends that Eagleson has kept apprised of, though he isn’t necessarily a subscriber to some of the philosophies pushing these trends.
“The trends [in landscaping or hardscapes] just like homes is bigger must be better,” Eagleson said. “And no, it isn’t, but that is the trend. I went to the Flower and Patio Show, and I’ve been involved with that show and going to it since the late ‘80s. Everything that I saw this year were these giant outdoor living spaces with fireplaces, pergolas, outdoor TVs, firepits and yada yada. Obviously, the vendors were just showing what they can do, but to me, they are trying to sell their clients everything they can possibly sell them and get every dollar out of this person right there on the very first project. That has never been my approach. I try to make my client think through the process and think about where they are better off investing their bucks.”

Eagleson also designs and installs water features in addition to patios, firepits, etc.
“Do I build fireplaces? Sure do. Do I put in firepits? Sure do. I also do water features, and those can be very simplistic or can be very involved,” he said. “I’d rather put in a water feature, very simple water feature, in over a firepit because if you’re sitting out there, you’re going to enjoy that white noise that’s going to muffle out the cars or the kids yelling five houses down. It’s just soothing. Again, that’s not everybody’s cup of tea, so the conversation process that I like having with clients is important.”
“Our website is chock full of pictures of our work, as well as blogs that will tell people a lot about what we do and how we do it,” Eagleson said. “As one will see, each project we do is different.”
